Frederick A. DeVoe founded Fred Devoe Chevrolet in February 1966. Fred's father was a new car dealer in Dunkirk Indiana. Fred was educated in Muncie and graduated from Ball State University. He was a lieutenant in the Navy and a PT boat commander in the South Pacific during World War II.

Fred was in the car business in Muncie, Indiana before purchasing the Chevrolet dealership from Ray Miller in 1966. The store was located on East Washington Street in downtown Alexandria at the time. The dealership was relocated to its present location on State Road 9 in 1987. Fred retired in 1990 and the franchise was operated and managed by Fred's two sons, Scott DeVoe and Tom DeVoe through 2006. Tom started in the dealership in 1972 and Scott in 1977. Scott is a graduate of Butler University and Tom of Ball State University. In January 2007 Tom sold his interest to Scott who is now the sole owner of Devoe Chevrolet.The dealership has grown consistently from its inception in 1966. Our present volume of 1400 units per year has quadrupled since 1966. Our family has been in the car business for over 60 years, but our business is our customers and our commitment to complete customer satisfaction has driven our success and continued growth.

Our Float Entered In The Christmas Parade We are proud to support the Alexandria Monroe Chamber of Commerce Annual Christmas Parade. Our staff really enjoy building a float every year (in their spare time) to help celebrate the season with the community. They did a great job and I want to thank everyone who participated.
